RT82 has a new function called DCDM (dual capacity direct mode). Many customers wanna know what’s RT82 DCDM. Today we will introduce.

What’s DCDM?

It means in direct call mode(without connect to repeater), the time slot which did not effect communication, will effect after DCDM selected.

Which model has DCDM?

Till now, Retevis RT82, HD1, RT40 has this function. For this function description, software in different model may vary from description, such as RT82 called DCDM, RT40 called TDMA.

We will take RT82 DCDM as an example.

For digital radio, like RT82, the time slot effects only connect to repeater.

For example, when you don’t connect to repeater, and you did not click DCDM in RT82 software.
In direct call mode, like RT82 talk with RT3, if RT82 communication channel select time slot 1, RT3 communication channel select time slot 2. Though different time slot, still they can communicate without any problem.

when you don’t connect to repeater, but you click √ DCDM in RT82 software. Then time slot will effect here. In direct call mode, the radio that select time slot 1, can not talk with radio that select time slot 2.

What’s the advantage for DCDM?

Generallly, it enhanced the frequency utility ratio. Because without DCDM function, two different channels normally can not use same frequency. But with DCDM, two different channels can choose same frequency, just change one channel with time slot 1, the other channel with time slot 2, but with same frequency is ok.
