UHF Frequency and Range
The UHF’s frequency bandwidth extends from 300 MHz to 3 GHz, wavelengths range from 1 to 10 decimeters which is also called the decimeter band.
Purpose
This kind of band is commonly used in air traffic control, television broadcasting, two-way land mobile radios and FM radio broadcasting. This is usually chosen over VHF because of its capacity to penetrate or go around walls of wood, steel and concrete making it suitable for indoor and outdoor purposes as well.
VHF Frequency and Range
The VHFs frequency bandwidth, on the other hand, extends from 30 MHz to 300 MHz, with wavelengths of 10 to 1 meters.
Purpose
This is ideal for outdoor security operations like in aviation and marine security, cordless telephones, televison channels. It is used on airplanes and large ships because signals can be sent across the sky or large bodies of water because there is little obstruction between the sender and the receiver. It is great for outdoor use as long as the surrounding area is free from obstruction.
If you are planning to put up a business, some would suggest you opt for the UHF radios because it suffers little or no interference at all. The waves are much shorter and has the capacity to penetrate around obstructing walls and infrastructures. If you decide to use it indoors and outdoors as well, the UHF radio would be your best friend. It would cost you a bit more but you get more for your buck in return.
